Product description

Background

Catalyzes the rate-limiting reaction in the biogenesis of long-chain fatty acids. Carries out three functions: biotin carboxyl carrier protein, biotin carboxylase and carboxyltransferase.

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Chicken ACC antibody. ACC present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Chicken ACC Antibody is added and binds to ACC in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ACC antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Chicken ACC. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research target context

ACACAacetyl-CoA carboxylase alpha

View target guide

ACACA is acetyl-CoA carboxylase alpha, commonly called acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1 or ACC1. This record links the verified human identity (NCBI Gene 31; UniProt Q13085) to ABMIUM catalogue products.

Biological function: Acetyl-CoA carboxylase alpha (ACACA/ACC1) is a biotin-dependent enzyme that converts acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA. This reaction is a key rate-limiting step in de novo fatty-acid synthesis and is regulated by phosphorylation and allosteric mechanisms.
