Product description

Background

Participates in at least several B-cell activation processes as well as of other cell types. It is a costimulator of DNA-synthesis. It induces the expression of class II MHC molecules on resting B-cells. It enhances both secretion and cell surface expression of IgE and IgG1. It also regulates the expression of the low affinity Fc receptor for IgE (CD23) on both lymphocytes and monocytes. Positively regulates IL31RA expression in macrophages. Stimulates autophagy in dendritic cells by interfering with mTORC1 signaling and through the induction of RUFY4.

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Canine IL4 antibody. IL4 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Canine IL4 Antibody is added and binds to IL4 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated IL4 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Canine IL4. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research target context

IL4interleukin 4

View target guide

IL4 identifies interleukin 4 in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 3565, UniProtKB P05112 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.

Biological function: IL4 is a pleiotropic cytokine produced by activated T cells. It binds the interleukin-4 receptor and signals prominently through STAT6, contributing to type 2 immune responses, tissue repair, allergic inflammation and regulation of B-cell and T-cell activity.
