ANXA3 encodes a member of the annexin family. Members of this calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein family play a role in the regulation of cellular growth and in signal transduction pathways. This protein (annexin A3) functions in the inhibition of phopholipase A2 and cleavage of inositol 1,2-cyclic phosphate to form inositol 1-phosphate. This protein may also play a role in anti-coagulation.

Annexin A3 (ANXA3) is a calcium- and phospholipid-binding annexin family protein associated with membrane biology and phospholipid-dependent enzymatic regulation.
Biological function: Reviewed UniProt P12429 describes ANXA3 as an inhibitor of phospholipase A2 with anticoagulant properties and inositol 1,2-cyclic phosphate 2-phosphohydrolase activity. These functions place annexin A3 in calcium/phospholipid-dependent membrane and signalling biology.
