About BCL6

Target information is kept separate from product-level validation so you can review the biology and the reagent evidence independently.

Biology

Biological function

BCL6 is a transcriptional repressor required for germinal-centre formation and antibody affinity maturation. It forms complexes with corepressors and histone deacetylases to repress distinct target-gene programmes, helping germinal-centre B cells proliferate while tolerating physiological DNA breaks associated with class-switch recombination and somatic hypermutation. BCL6 also contributes to follicular helper T-cell differentiation and immunological memory.

Experimental context

Research context

BCL6 is widely studied in germinal-centre B-cell biology, lymphoid differentiation, transcriptional repression, DNA-damage responses and lymphoma. Reagent choice should account for species, cellular localisation, assay format, clone or epitope, and product-level validation, particularly when comparing normal germinal-centre expression with malignant B-cell models.
