Agrin (AGRN) is an extracellular matrix and synaptic organizer with a central role in neuromuscular junction formation and maintenance. This ABMIUM record links human AGRN (NCBI Gene 375790; reviewed UniProt O00468) to catalogue-backed research products.
Biological function: Agrin (AGRN) is a heparan-sulfate basal-lamina glycoprotein whose neuronal isoforms organize postsynaptic differentiation at the neuromuscular junction. Reviewed UniProt evidence describes AGRN-LRP4 complex formation, activation of MUSK and clustering of acetylcholine receptors, with additional isoform-dependent roles in neurite outgrowth and synapse biology.
