Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 12, auch bekannt als TNF-related weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK), ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen vom Gen TNFSF12 kodiert wird. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein ist ein Zytokin, das zur Tumornekrosefaktor (TNF)-Ligandenfamilie gehört. Dieses Protein ist ein Ligand für den FN14/TWEAKR-Rezeptor. Dieses Zytokin hat überlappende Signalfunktionen mit TNF, weist jedoch eine wesentlich breitere Gewebeverteilung auf. Dieses Zytokin kann Apoptose über mehrere zelltypspezifische Wege des Zelltods induzieren. Dieses Zytokin fördert auch die Proliferation und Migration von Endothelzellen und fungiert somit als Regulator der Angiogenese. Das TNFSF12-Gen liegt 878 bp stromaufwärts der mutmaßlichen Transkriptionsstartstelle des TNFSF13-Gens auf Chromosom 17p13.1.
