CEBPE is a transcriptional activator. C/EBP are DNA-binding proteins that recognize two different motifs: the CCAAT homology common to many promoters and the enhanced core homology common to many enhancers. CEBPE is required for the promyelocyte-myelocyte transition in myeloid differentiation.
