Dieses Gen kodiert ein pankreatisches sezerniertes Protein, das an der Zellproliferation oder -differenzierung beteiligt sein könnte. Es weist Ähnlichkeit mit der C-Typ-Lektin-Superfamilie auf. Die verstärkte Expression dieses Gens wird bei Pankreasentzündungen und Leberkarzinogenese beobachtet. Für dieses Gen wurden mehrere alternativ gespleißte Transkriptvarianten beschrieben, die dasselbe Protein kodieren, aber die vollständige Länge einiger Transkripte ist noch nicht bekannt.
