Osteomodulin (auch Osteoadherin oder Osteoadherin-Proteoglykan genannt) ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen vom OMD-Gen kodiert wird. Dieses Gen ist auf 13; 13 A5 kartiert. Osteoadherin wird von fetalen und adulten Osteoblasten exprimiert, ist aber in Knorpel oder Sehnen nicht nachweisbar. Im Zahngewebe wird OSAD von Odontoblasten und Ameloblasten exprimiert und ist an der Mineralisierung von Knochen und Zähnen beteiligt. OSAD fördert die Adhäsion von Osteoblasten und Odontoblasten an die umgebende Matrix, eine Interaktion, die durch Integrin alpha V beta 3 vermittelt wird.
