IL17C, auch bekannt als CX2, ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen durch das Gen IL17C kodiert wird. IL17C ist auf 16q24.3 kartiert. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein ist ein von T-Zellen stammendes Zytokin, das Sequenzähnlichkeiten mit IL17 aufweist. Es wurde berichtet, dass dieses Zytokin die Freisetzung von Tumornekrosefaktor alpha und Interleukin 1 beta aus einer monozytären Zelllinie stimuliert. Die Expression dieses Zytokins wurde auf aktivierte T-Zellen beschränkt gefunden. IL17C ist ein essentielles autokrines Zytokin, das angeborene epitheliale Immunantworten reguliert. Es spielt auch eine wichtige Rolle bei der Pathogenese der entzündlichen Arthritis.
