Folat-Rezeptor 1, Adult, ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen vom FOLR1-Gen kodiert wird. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein gehört zur Folatrezeptor (FOLR)-Familie. Es ist auf 11q13.4 kartiert. Die FOLR1-Expression in Jurkat-Zellen erleichterte den Eintritt von MBG oder EBO, und FR-blockierende Reagenzien hemmten die Infektion mit MBG oder EBO. Dieses Genprodukt ist ein sezerniertes Protein, das entweder über eine Glykosylphosphatidylinositol-Verknüpfung an Membranen verankert ist oder in löslicher Form vorliegt. Das FOLR1-Gen kodiert den adulten Folatrezeptor oder das Folat-bindende Protein (FBP), das eine hohe Affinität zu Folsäure und mehreren reduzierten Folsäurederivaten aufweist und die Lieferung von 5-Methyltetrahydrofolat in das Zellinnere vermittelt. FOLR1 ist auch ein wichtiger Regulator der Milchproteinsynthese.
