Chemokine(C-C Motiv)-Ligand 7 (CCL7) ist ein kleines Zytokin, das als Chemokin bekannt ist und früher als Monozyten-spezifisches Chemokin 3 (MCP3) bezeichnet wurde. Es gehört zur C-C Chemokin-Familie. Durch Fluoreszenz-in-situ-Hybridisierung wurde das MCP3-Gen auf Chromosom 17q11.2-q12 kartiert. MCP3 wurde als physiologisches Substrat der Gelatinase A identifiziert. Gespaltenes MCP3 bindet an CC-Chemokin-Rezeptoren-1, -2 und -3, induziert aber keine Kalziumflüsse mehr und fördert auch keine Chemotaxis, sondern wirkt stattdessen als allgemeiner Chemokin-Antagonist, der Entzündungen dämpft, was darauf hindeutet, dass Matrixmetalloproteinasen sowohl Effektoren als auch Regulatoren der Entzündungsreaktion sind.
