Der Gewebeinhibitor der Metalloproteinasen 4, auch Metalloproteinase-Inhibitor 4 genannt, ist ein Enzym, das beim Menschen durch das TIMP4-Gen kodiert wird. Dieses Gen gehört zur TIMP-Genfamilie. Die durch diese Genfamilie kodierten Proteine sind Inhibitoren der Matrixmetalloproteinasen, einer Gruppe von Peptidasen, die am Abbau der extrazellulären Matrix beteiligt sind. Dieses Gen ist auf 3p25.2 kartiert. Das sezernierte, Netrin-Domänen-enthaltende Protein, das von diesem Gen kodiert wird, ist an der Regulation der Thrombozytenaggregation und -rekrutierung beteiligt und könnte eine Rolle bei der hormonellen Regulation und dem Umbau des Endometriumgewebes spielen.
