LOX-1 (Lectin-type oxidized LDL receptor 1), auch bekannt als OLR1, ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen durch das OLR1-Gen kodiert wird. LOX-1 ist ein Rezeptorprotein, das zur C-Typ-Lektin-Superfamilie gehört. Das LOX1-Gen wurde mittels Fluoreszenz-in-situ-Hybridisierung auf 12p13-p12 kartiert. LOX1 wird auf der Plasmamembran differenzierter Makrophagen exprimiert, nicht aber auf Monozyten. Das LOX1-Protein fungiert als Makrophagen-Scavenger-Rezeptor. Die LOX1-Expression wurde in allen choroidalen Neovaskularisationsmembranen nachgewiesen, unabhängig von deren Struktur, während im hinteren Segment normaler Augen keine Anzeichen von LOX1 vorhanden waren. LOX1 spielt eine aktive Rolle in der Pathogenese der choroidalen Neovaskularisation, insbesondere bei ARMD.
