Interleukin (IL)-12 ist ein 70 KDa großes Zytokin, das aus zwei Disulfid-verknüpften Proteinen (p35 und p40) besteht und für die Initiierung einer effektiven Immunantwort unerlässlich ist.[i] Und das IL-12p70 ist ein Heterodimer aus p35- und p40-Untereinheiten; es ist ein wichtiges Zytokin, das von antigenpräsentierenden Zellen als Reaktion auf antigene Stimulation ausgeschieden wird.[ii] Die Genexpressionsanalyse der Untereinheiten der IL-12-Zytokinfamilie ergab, dass beide Stämme hohe Mengen an p40 (Proteinkette, die IL-12 p70 und IL-23 gemeinsam ist) sowie p19, eine Untereinheit von IL-23, induzierten. Umgekehrt induzierte nur die ACT-18HS19-Infektion eine konsistente Transkription von IL-12 p35, einer Untereinheit von IL-12 p70.[iii] Das in diesem Kit verwendete Standardprodukt ist rekombinantes humanes IL-12 p70 mit einer Molekularmasse von 75 KDa.
