Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein ist ein Caspase-3-Substrat, das eine Rolle bei der Regulierung von Mikrofilamenten und Zellformveränderungen während der Apoptose spielt. Es kann auch die Zellempfindlichkeit gegenüber p53-abhängiger Apoptose modulieren, indem es die Calpain-Aktivität hemmt.
