Hintergrund

Die GDP-Mannose-4,6-Dehydratase (GMD; EC 4.2.1.47) katalysiert die Umwandlung von GDP-Mannose zu GDP-4-Keto-6-Desoxymannose, dem ersten Schritt in der Synthese von GDP-Fucose aus GDP-Mannose, unter Verwendung von NADP+ als Kofaktor. Die zweiten und dritten Schritte des Signalwegs werden durch ein einziges Enzym, die GDP-Keto-6-Desoxymannose-3,5-Epimerase, 4-Reduktase, im Menschen als FX bezeichnet (MIM 137020), katalysiert [bereitgestellt von OMIM, Aug. 2009].
