Hintergrund

Dieses Gen kodiert ein Mitglied der Folatrezeptor-Familie (FOLR) von Proteinen, die eine hohe Affinität zu Folsäure und mehreren reduzierten Folsäurederivaten besitzen und die Abgabe von 5-Methyltetrahydrofolat in das Zellinnere vermitteln. Die Expression dieses Gens kann bei Ovarialkarzinomen und primären Peritonealkarzinomen erhöht sein. Dieses Gen befindet sich in einem Gencluster auf Chromosom 11.
