Hintergrund

Der Origin Recognition Complex (ORC) ist ein hochkonservierter Proteinkomplex aus sechs Untereinheiten, der für die Initiierung der DNA-Replikation in eukaryotischen Zellen unerlässlich ist. Studien an Hefe zeigten, dass ORC spezifisch an Replikationsursprünge bindet und als Plattform für die Assemblierung zusätzlicher Initiationsfaktoren wie Cdc6 und Mcm-Proteine dient. Dieses Gen kodiert eine Untereinheit des ORC-Komplexes. Für dieses Gen wurden mehrere alternativ gespleißte Transkriptvarianten berichtet, von denen einige das gleiche Protein kodieren.
