Zelltod-induzierender DFFA-ähnlicher Effektor a (CIDEA) Homo sapiens Dieses Gen kodiert das Homolog des Mausproteins Cidea, das gezeigt hat, Apoptose zu aktivieren. Diese Aktivierung der Apoptose wird durch den DNA-Fragmentierungsfaktor DFF45 gehemmt, aber nicht durch Caspase-Inhibitoren. Mäuse, denen funktionsfähiges Cidea fehlt, haben höhere Stoffwechselraten, eine höhere Lipolyse im braunen Fettgewebe und höhere Körperkerntemperaturen, wenn sie Kälte ausgesetzt werden. Diese Mäuse sind auch resistent gegen ernährungsbedingte Adipositas und Diabetes. Dies deutet darauf hin, dass dieses Genprodukt bei Mäusen eine Rolle bei der Thermogenese und Lipolyse spielt.
