Die WNT-Genfamilie besteht aus strukturell verwandten Genen, die sezernierte Signalproteine kodieren. Diese Proteine sind an der Onkogenese und an mehreren Entwicklungsprozessen beteiligt, einschließlich der Regulation des Zellschicksals und der Musterbildung während der Embryogenese. Dieses Gen ist ein Mitglied der WNT-Genfamilie. Es wird in Magenkarzinom-Zelllinien exprimiert. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein zeigt eine 75%ige Aminosäureidentität mit Hühner-Wnt14, das eine zentrale Rolle bei der Initiierung der Bildung von Synovialgelenken in den Gliedmaßen des Huhns spielt. Dieses Gen ist mit einem anderen Familienmitglied, WNT3A, in der Region 1q42 des Chromosoms gruppiert. [bereitgestellt von RefSeq, Juli 2008].
