Dieses Protein und das Nocturnin-Protein weisen Ähnlichkeiten mit der C-terminalen Domäne eines Hefe-Transkriptionsfaktors, der Kohlenstoffkatabolit-Repression 4 (CCR4), auf. Die mRNA-Abundanz eines ähnlichen Gens in Mäusen hat gezeigt, dass sie zirkadiane Rhythmik aufweist, was eine Rolle für dieses Protein in der Uhrfunktion oder als zirkadianer Uhr-Effektor nahelegt.
