G-Proteine vermitteln eine Reihe von zellulären Prozessen. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein gehört zur RGS-Familie (Regulatoren der G-Protein-Signalgebung) und interagiert spezifisch mit dem G-Protein GAI3. Dieses Protein ist ein Guanosintriphosphatase-aktivierendes Protein, das die Galpha i/Galpha q-gekoppelte Signalgebung herunterreguliert. Für dieses Gen wurden alternativ gespleißte Transkriptvarianten gefunden, die dieselbe Proteinisform kodieren. [bereitgestellt von RefSeq, Juli 2008].
