Hintergrund

MYBPC3 kodiert die kardiale Isoform des Myosin-bindenden Proteins C. Myosin-bindendes Protein C ist ein Myosin-assoziiertes Protein, das in der Querbrücken-tragenden Zone (C-Region) der A-Banden in der quergestreiften Muskulatur gefunden wird. MYBPC3, die kardiale Isoform, wird ausschließlich im Herzmuskel exprimiert. Die regulatorische Phosphorylierung der kardialen Isoform in vivo durch cAMP-abhängige Proteinkinase (PKA) bei adrenerger Stimulation kann mit der Modulation der Herz-Kontraktion verbunden sein. Mutationen in MYBPC3 sind eine Ursache für familiäre hypertrophe Kardiomyopathie. [bereitgestellt von RefSeq, Juli 2008].
