Dieses Gen kodiert ein Mitglied der F-Box-Proteinfamilie, die durch ein ungefähr 40 Aminosäuren umfassendes Motiv, die F-Box, gekennzeichnet ist. Die F-Box-Proteine bilden eine der vier Untereinheiten des Ubiquitin-Protein-Ligase-Komplexes, der als SCFs (SKP1-Cullin-F-Box) bezeichnet wird und an der Phosphorylierungs-abhängigen Ubiquitinierung beteiligt ist. Die F-Box-Proteine werden in 3 Klassen unterteilt: Fbws mit WD-40-Domänen, Fbls mit Leucin-reichen Wiederholungen und Fbxs mit entweder unterschiedlichen Protein-Protein-Interaktionsmodulen oder ohne erkennbare Motive. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein gehört zur Klasse der Fbxs und könnte eine Rolle bei der Regulation der Hämatopoese spielen.
