Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein gehört zur Familie der Proteinphosphatase-1 (PP1)-Inhibitoren. Dieses Protein ist ein Inhibitor der Myosinphosphatase der glatten Muskulatur und weist eine höhere Inhibitoraktivität auf, wenn es phosphoryliert ist. Die Hemmung der Myosinphosphatase führt zu einer erhöhten Myosinphosphorylierung und einer verstärkten Kontraktion der glatten Muskulatur.
