Activin A receptor type 2A (ACVR2A) encodes activin receptor type-2A, a transmembrane serine/threonine kinase receptor of the TGF-beta superfamily signalling system. Human ACVR2A maps to NCBI Gene 92 and reviewed UniProtKB P27037; this record links the verified target to related ABMIUM catalogue products.
Biological function: ACVR2A is a type II activin receptor with an extracellular ligand-binding domain and intracellular serine/threonine kinase domain. After ligand binding it forms receptor complexes with type I receptors; the type II receptor phosphorylates and activates type I receptors, which then propagate signalling through SMAD transcriptional regulators. Reviewed UniProt identifies activin A, activin B and inhibin A among its ligands.
