Hintergrund

Der Core Binding Factor (CBF) ist ein heterodimerer Transkriptionsfaktor, der an das Kernelement vieler Enhancer und Promotoren bindet. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein repräsentiert die Alpha-Untereinheit von CBF und soll an der Entwicklung der normalen Hämatopoese beteiligt sein. Chromosomale Translokationen, die dieses Gen betreffen, sind gut dokumentiert und wurden mit verschiedenen Arten von Leukämie in Verbindung gebracht. Für dieses Gen wurden drei Transkriptvarianten gefunden, die verschiedene Isoformen kodieren. [bereitgestellt von RefSeq, Juli 2008].
