Es wurde gezeigt, dass die Expression dieses Gens durch Retinsäure in einer Zelllinie induziert wird, die eine onkogene Version des Retinsäure-Rezeptor-alpha-Fusionsproteins exprimiert, was darauf hindeutet, dass dieses Gen ein Retinsäure-Zielgen bei akuter promyelozytischer Leukämie sein könnte.
