Hintergrund

Integrin-Untereinheit alpha L (ITGAL) Homo sapiens ITGAL kodiert die Integrin-alpha-L-Kette. Integrine sind heterodimere integrale Membranproteine, die aus einer Alpha-Kette und einer Beta-Kette bestehen. Dieses I-Domänen-enthaltende Alpha-Integrin kombiniert sich mit der Beta-2-Kette (ITGB2), um das Integrin Lymphozytenfunktions-assoziierte Antigen-1 (LFA-1) zu bilden, das auf allen Leukozyten exprimiert wird. LFA-1 spielt eine zentrale Rolle bei der interzellulären Adhäsion von Leukozyten durch Interaktionen mit seinen Liganden, ICAMs 1-3 (interzelluläre Adhäsionsmoleküle 1 bis 3), und fungiert auch in der kostimulatorischen Signalgebung von Lymphozyten.
