C-X-C-Motiv-Chemokin-Rezeptor 2 (CXCR2) Homo sapiens Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein ist ein Mitglied der Familie der G-Protein-gekoppelten Rezeptoren. Dieses Protein ist ein Rezeptor für Interleukin 8 (IL8). Es bindet mit hoher Affinität an IL8 und leitet das Signal über ein G-Protein-aktiviertes Second-Messenger-System weiter. Dieser Rezeptor bindet auch an Chemokin (C-X-C-Motiv) Ligand 1 (CXCL1/MGSA), ein Protein mit Melanom-Wachstums-stimulierender Aktivität, und hat sich als eine Hauptkomponente erwiesen, die für das serumabhängige Wachstum von Melanomzellen erforderlich ist. Dieser Rezeptor vermittelt die Neutrophilenmigration zu Entzündungsherden. Die angiogenen Effekte von IL8 in intestinalen mikrovaskulären Endothelzellen werden durch diesen Rezeptor vermittelt. Knockout-Studien an Mäusen deuteten darauf hin, dass dieser Rezeptor die Positionierung von Oligodendrozyten-Vorläufern im sich entwickelnden Rückenmark steuert, indem er deren Migration hemmt.
