transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 4 (TRPV4) Homo sapiens Dieses Gen kodiert ein Mitglied der OSM9-ähnlichen Transient-Rezeptor-Potential-Kanal-(OTRPC)-Unterfamilie in der Transient-Rezeptor-Potential-(TRP)-Superfamilie von Ionenkanälen. Das kodierte Protein ist ein Ca2+-permeabler, nicht-selektiver Kationenkanal, der vermutlich an der Regulierung des systemischen osmotischen Drucks beteiligt ist. Mutationen in diesem Gen sind die Ursache für spondylometaphysäre und metatropische Dysplasie sowie die hereditäre motorische und sensible Neuropathie Typ IIC.
