Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein ist ein Rezeptor für Interleukin 10. Dieses Protein ist strukturell mit Interferonrezeptoren verwandt. Es wurde gezeigt, dass es das immunsuppressive Signal von Interleukin 10 vermittelt und somit die Synthese proinflammatorischer Zytokine hemmt. Es wird berichtet, dass dieser Rezeptor das Überleben myeloischer Vorläuferzellen über den Insulinrezeptor-Substrat-2/PI3-Kinase/AKT-Signalweg fördert. Die Aktivierung dieses Rezeptors führt zur Tyrosinphosphorylierung von JAK1- und TYK2-Kinasen.
