Expression systemIsoform 2 wird in hohem Maße im Gehirn, Thymus, Eierstock, Hoden, Leukozyten, Leber, Dünndarm und in der Prostata exprimiert. Isoform 1 wird im Gehirn, Hoden und in der Nebenniere exprimiert. Sie wird in tumorerzeugenden Brustkrebszelllinien und im Primärtumor von Brustkrebspatientinnen aktiviert. Die Aktivierung korreliert auch mit metastatischer Lymphknoteninvasion und kann in metastatischen Epithelzellen aus den Lymphknoten und im Knochenmark von Patienten nachgewiesen werden.
