Hintergrund

Dieses Gen kodiert für ein Mitglied der Endophilin-Familie von Src-Homologie-3-Domänen-enthaltenden Proteinen. Das kodierte Protein ist an der Endozytose beteiligt und könnte auch eine Rolle im Zellzyklus spielen. Eine Überexpression dieses Gens könnte eine Rolle bei der Leukämogenese spielen, und das kodierte Protein wurde bei akuter myeloischer Leukämie als Fusionspartner des myeloid-lymphoiden Leukämie-Proteins identifiziert. Pseudogene dieses Gens befinden sich auf dem langen Arm der Chromosomen 11 und 17. Alternativ gespleißte Transkriptvarianten, die mehrere Isoformen kodieren, wurden für dieses Gen beobachtet.
