Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein ist eine Komponente des endosomalen Sortierkomplexes, der für den Transport II (ESCRT-II) benötigt wird und die Bewegung von ubiquitinylierten Transmembranproteinen zum Lysosom zum Abbau reguliert. Dieser Komplex interagiert auch mit dem RNA-Polymerase-II-Elongationsfaktor (ELL), um die repressiven Effekte von ELL auf die RNA-Polymerase-II-Aktivität zu überwinden.
