Arg und c-Abl stellen die Säugetier-Mitglieder der Abelson-Familie der Nicht-Rezeptor-Protein-Tyrosin-Kinasen dar. Sie interagieren mit den Arg/Abl-Bindeproteinen über die SH3-Domänen, die am Carboxy-Ende der letzteren Proteingruppe vorhanden sind. Dieses Gen kodiert das Sorbin- und SH3-Domänen-enthaltende 2-Protein. Es besitzt drei C-terminale SH3-Domänen und eine N-terminale Sorbin-Homologie (SoHo)-Domäne, die mit Lipid-Raft-Proteinen interagiert. Die subzelluläre Lokalisation dieses Proteins in Epithel- und Herzmuskelzellen deutet darauf hin, dass es als Adapterprotein fungiert, um Signalgebungskomplexe in Stressfasern zu assemblieren, und dass es eine potenzielle Verbindung zwischen Abl-Familienkinasen und dem Aktin-Zytoskelett darstellt.
