Hintergrund

Das ZKSCAN1-Gen kodiert einen Transkriptionsregulator der KRAB-Subfamilie (Kruppel-assoziierte Box) von Zinkfingerproteinen, die wiederholte Cys2-His2 (C2H2) Zinkfingerdomänen enthalten, die durch konservierte Sequenzen, sogenannte H/C-Verbindungen, miteinander verbunden sind (zusammengefasst von Tommerup und Vissing, 1995 [PubMed 7557990]). Es wird angenommen, dass Transkriptionsregulationsproteine, die tandemartig wiederholte Zinkfingerdomänen enthalten, sowohl an der normalen als auch an der abnormalen zellulären Proliferation und Differenzierung beteiligt sind.
