RAB14 gehört zur großen RAB-Familie von GTPasen mit niedrigem Molekulargewicht, die am intrazellulären Membrantransport beteiligt sind. Diese Proteine fungieren als molekulare Schalter, die zwischen einem inaktiven GDP-gebundenen Zustand und einem aktiven GTP-gebundenen Zustand wechseln, in dem sie nachgeschaltete Effektorproteine an Membranen rekrutieren (Junutula et al., 2004 [PubMed 15004230]).[bereitgestellt von OMIM, März 2009].
