Dieses Gen kodiert ein Pleckstrin-Homologie-Domänen-enthaltendes Adapterprotein. Das kodierte Protein ist an der Plasmamembran lokalisiert, wo es spezifisch an Phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphat bindet. Dieses Protein könnte an der Bildung von Signalkomplexen in der Plasmamembran beteiligt sein. Polymorphismen in diesem Gen sind mit der altersbedingten Makuladegeneration assoziiert. Alternatives Spleißen führt zu mehreren Transkriptvarianten. Ein Pseudogen dieses Gens findet sich auf Chromosom 5. [bereitgestellt von RefSeq, Sep 2010]
