Hintergrund

Das von diesem Gen kodierte Protein, ein Mitglied der Peptidase-C1-Familie, ist eine lysosomale Cysteinproteinase, die an der Degradation antigener Proteine zu Peptiden für die Präsentation auf MHC-Klasse-II-Molekülen beteiligt sein kann. Das kodierte Protein kann als Elastase über einen weiten pH-Bereich in Alveolarmakrophagen fungieren.
