Zytokine sind eine Familie sezernierter Proteine, die an immunregulatorischen und entzündlichen Prozessen beteiligt sind. Die CC-Zytokine sind Proteine, die durch zwei benachbarte Cysteine gekennzeichnet sind. Das von diesem Gen kodierte Zytokin weist chemotaktische Aktivität für Lymphozyten und Monozyten, aber nicht für Neutrophile auf. Dieses Zytokin zeigt auch eine starke myelosuppressive Aktivität und unterdrückt die Proliferation von myeloischen Vorläuferzellen. Die Expression dieses Gens wird durch IL-10 hochreguliert.
