Trefoil-Faktor 2 (TFF2) ist ein Mitglied der Trefoil-Familie und enthält zwei P-Typ- (Trefoil-) Domänen. Mitglieder dieser Familie zeichnen sich durch mindestens eine Kopie des Trefoil-Motivs aus, einer 40 Aminosäuren umfassenden Domäne, die drei konservierte Disulfide enthält. TFF2 ist ein sezerniertes Protein und wird spezifisch im Magen exprimiert. TFF2 hemmt die gastrointestinale Motilität und die Magensäuresekretion. TFF2 könnte als struktureller Bestandteil des Magenschleims fungieren, möglicherweise durch die Stabilisierung von Glykoproteinen im Schleimgel durch Wechselwirkungen mit Kohlenhydratseitenketten.
