Hintergrund

Die molekulare Maschinerie der Autophagie wurde größtenteils in Hefe entdeckt und als Autophagie-bezogene (Atg) Gene bezeichnet. Die Bildung des Autophagosoms beinhaltet ein Ubiquitin-ähnliches Konjugationssystem, bei dem Atg12 kovalent an Atg5 gebunden und an Autophagosom-Vesikel transportiert wird. Diese Konjugationsreaktion wird durch das Ubiquitin-E1-ähnliche Enzym Atg7 und das E2-ähnliche Enzym Atg10 vermittelt.
