Das 14-3-3-Protein Epsilon ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen vom YWHAE-Gen kodiert wird. Dieses Genprodukt gehört zur 14-3-3-Proteinfamilie, die durch Bindung an Phosphoserin-haltige Proteine die Signaltransduktion vermittelt. Diese hochkonservierte Proteinfamilie kommt sowohl in Pflanzen als auch in Säugetieren vor, und dieses Protein ist zu 100 % identisch mit dem Ortholog der Maus. Es interagiert mit CDC25-Phosphatasen, RAF1- und IRS1-Proteinen, was auf seine Rolle bei verschiedenen biochemischen Aktivitäten im Zusammenhang mit der Signaltransduktion, wie Zellteilung und Regulierung der Insulinsensitivität, hindeutet. Es wurde auch in die Pathogenese des kleinzelligen Lungenkarzinoms involviert. Für dieses Gen wurden zwei Transkriptvarianten gefunden, eine Proteincodierende und die andere nicht-Proteincodierende.
