Das Alpha-Tocopherol-Transferprotein ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen durch das TTPA-Gen kodiert wird. Dieses Gen kodiert ein lösliches Protein, das Alpha-Trocopherol, eine Form von Vitamin E, mit hoher Selektivität und Affinität bindet. Dieses Protein spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der Regulierung des Vitamin-E-Spiegels im Körper, indem es Vitamin E zwischen Membranvesikeln transportiert und die Sekretion von Vitamin E aus Hepatozyten in zirkulierende Lipoproteine erleichtert. Mutationen in diesem Gen verursachen hereditären Vitamin-E-Mangel (Ataxie mit Vitamin-E-Mangel, AVED) und Retinitis pigmentosa.
