Das RNA-bindende Protein FUS/TLS (Fused in Sarcoma/Translocated in Sarcoma) ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen durch das FUS-Gen kodiert wird. Dieses Gen kodiert eine multifunktionale Proteinkomponente des heterogenen nuklearen Ribonukleoprotein (hnRNP)-Komplexes. Der hnRNP-Komplex ist an der prä-mRNA-Spleißung und dem Export vollständig prozessierter mRNA in das Zytoplasma beteiligt. Dieses Protein gehört zur FET-Familie der RNA-bindenden Proteine, die an zellulären Prozessen beteiligt sind, darunter die Regulation der Genexpression, die Aufrechterhaltung der genomischen Integrität und die mRNA/microRNA-Verarbeitung. Alternatives Spleißen führt zu mehreren Transkriptvarianten. Defekte in diesem Gen führen zu amyotropher Lateralsklerose Typ 6.
