SOD2 identifies superoxide dismutase 2 in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 6648, UniProtKB P04179 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.
Biological function: SOD2 is the mitochondrial manganese-dependent superoxide dismutase that converts superoxide radicals to hydrogen peroxide and molecular oxygen, providing a central mitochondrial antioxidant defense against reactive oxygen species.
