Suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1), auch bekannt als Jak-binding protein (JAB), ist ein negativer Regulator einer Untergruppe von Protein-Tyrosinkinasen. Dieses 211 Aminosäuren umfassende Protein hat eine Molekülmasse von etwa 23,5 kD. Die TEC-Bindungsregion von SOCS1 befindet sich im N-Terminus. SOCS1 assoziiert mit Tec und unterdrückt dessen Kinaseaktivität. Das SOCS1-Gen ist intronlos und ist auf Chromosom 16p13.13 kartiert. SOCS1 reguliert den JAK/STAT-Signaltransduktionsweg. Darüber hinaus trägt es zum Schutz vor Leberschäden und Fibrose bei und kann auch vor Hepatokarzinogenese schützen.
