Das mitochondriale antivirale Signalprotein (MAVS) ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen vom MAVS-Gen kodiert wird. Das Protein ist auch unter den Namen VISA (virusinduzierter Signaladapter), IPS-1 und Cardif bekannt. Dieses Gen kodiert ein Zwischenprotein, das für die virusausgelösten Beta-Interferon-Signalwege notwendig ist. Es wird für die Aktivierung von Transkriptionsfaktoren benötigt, die die Expression von Beta-Interferon regulieren und zur antiviralen Immunität beitragen.
